The Holy Transfiguration

Today we have kept the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Mount Tabor. Jesus gives to Peter, James and John a glimpse of what is yet to come in him and through him who is the fulfillment of the Law (Moses) and the Prophets (Elijah). By heeding to the voice of the Father and listening and obeying to the voice of the Beloved we are also taken up into this new life of grace.

Here in Malta the picturesque village of Lija celebrates this day with much solemnity and dignity. The Parish Church is dedicated to the Holy Transfiguration known here as Christ the Saviour (Is-Salvatur). The statue of the Transfiguration is taken in procession and the streets and the church are adorned with fine treasures which are all displayed for the faithful to see. A tip of the biretta to Maria-Pia Aquilina who took today's photos.
