Maundy Thursday in Jerusalem

As a result of the Status Quo the Mass of the Lord's Supper is celebrated early Thursday morning in the Basilica of the Anastasis.
The Latin Patriarch celebrates at 8am the Mass with Mandatum and also the blessing of Holy Oils and renewing of Priestly Vows.
The Blessed Sacrament is carried around the tomb of Christ three times before It is placed in the Holy Educle that becomes an altar of repose.
The Basilica is shut to reopen at three in the afternoon for prayers in front of the edicule led by the Franciscans.
In the meantime many assemble at the Upper Room where the Custos washes the feet of twelve children from the Parish of St Saviour.
In the evening thousands assemble for a Vigil at the Garden of Gethsemani which ends with a torchlit procession to the church of St Peter in Gallicantu.
