Vienna IX

The altarpiece showing the martyrdom of St Stephen (by the hands of the Ottomans outside the old walls of Vienna) is painted on a piece of solid copper. The sculptures around the the altar show St Leopold, St Florian, St Sebastian and St Roche, patrons of the city. Underneath the altar is the cranium of St Stephen. In front of the choir stalls are two altars; the altarpiece of each is painted on marble. In between these two altars there is a marble free standing altar installed after the liturgical reforms of 1969.

The Holy Oils aumbry.
