Vox Michaelis

The Voice of Michael

On this feast day of the Holy Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael I reproduce this psalm like writing the work of St George Preca (+1962). St George once imagined in prayer that St Michael the Archangel was singing a psalm in the courts of heaven. This is what he heard:

Satan should remember that he owes his very existence to the Most High * to whom no one can be equal.

No power can remove Jesus Christ the Son of the Most High and the Virgin Mary * from his eternal glory.

Satan caused that happy fault that merited to man such and so great a redeemer * and made the Son of God their brother.

It is impossible for Satan to find peace or rest * not even if he destroys God’s servants.

Heaviness of heart and suffering in the body caused by Satan * are the cause of a greater crown of glory.

Him who declared “I shall not serve” * in spite of his malice and confusion paved the way for God’s incomprehensible judgements.

To God alone praise, honour and all glory * He receives the humble and sends the proud away empty.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son * and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever * world without end. Amen.
