Devotions for Friday of the III Week in Lent

There are two main devotions that are kept on this day. In some countries one is called the commemoration or the feastday of the Way of the Cross. There is a proper Mass for this in the Holy Land Missal. Above is a model of the Via Dolorosa, Station 9 marks where the old walls of the city made Golgotha outside the city walls, station 6 marks the station of the Holy Face.
The other devotion is held in places where the feast of the Holy Face of Jesus is not kept on Shrove Tuesday but kept with great solemnity today. This is the commemoration of what happened at the 6th Station of the Way of the Cross. (Far below are pictures of this station)
As we seek the face of Christ during this holy season we continue carrying our cross and following him.
Prayer of the Little Flower to the Holy Face
O Jesus, who in Thy bitter Passion didst become "the most abject of men, a man of sorrows", I venerate Thy Sacred Face whereon there once did shine the beauty and sweetness of the Godhead; but now it has become for me as if it were the face of a leper! Nevertheless, under those disfigured features, I recognize Thy infinite Love and I am consumed with the desire to love Thee and make Thee loved by all men. O Jesus, I implore Thee to fix deep within me Thy divine image and to set me on fire with Thy Love, that I may be found worthy to come to the contemplation of Thy glorious Face in Heaven. Amen.

May we, who with sentiments of compassion accompany Christ on the way to Calvary, follow him also in the triumph of his resurrection. He is God, and lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Super oblata: May we obtain, O Father, the pardon of our sins, and may we be confirmed in the courages adherence to the Gospel by the sacrifice of the meek Lamb, who, as immaculate victim, was immolated on the latar of the Cross, to purify us from all sin. He lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
