Awaiting Advent

Lord Jesus Christ,
who is, who was, and who is to come,
we pray for the virtue of hope,
that amidst the trials and difficulties
of this world,
we may keep our hearts fixed
upon you, who reigns over the cosmos.
May your grace enliven us,
strengthen us,
and defend us,
as we await your coming in glory. Amen

Good prayer, thank you: but...
difficult, these relative clauses; If we are addressing Our Blessed Lord should we not say to him, "who are, who were, and who are to come"? You are in good company - there are places where the Daily Office does similarly.

Then should the whole phrase be addressed in the second person? 'You are, you were' etc. Which also sounds odd?
