Sad as I was to miss this evening's Evangelium, it was wonderful to be invited to preach at Bearwood College in Berkshire by the chaplain, Fr Stuart King. Fr Stuart was one of the deacons at my ordination and it was good to see him on 'home turf'.About 360 pupils from the school were at Evensong, together with staff. A couple of the girls help out with sacristy and the choir sang very well - both in leading the singing and an anthem. It was a real treat to be there.
The school chapel (pictured) is based on a French monastic church and the Blessed Sacrament is reserved on the High Altar. Fr King is keeping a great tradition alive and it was fantastic to see the Headmaster so encouraging of the chaplaincy life.
