This is the Anglican bishop of Massachusetts, the Rt Revd M Thomas Shaw SSJE. He is shown presiding over the "marriage" of the Very Reverend Katherine Hancock Ragsdale and Mally Lloyd, Canon to the Ordinary. One of them is divorced. This took place at the Anglican Cathedral of St Paul in Boston on Saturday 1 January 2011.
How does one square this with the Bible?
How does one square this with the practice and teaching of the Universal Church in the last 2000 years?
How does one understand the complete silence about this event?
When will this happen in the CofE?
We should never judge persons, thankfully that is in the hands of the Almighty. The event is another matter. The fact that it happened does not make it right. The fact that the Universal Church says that this is not right carries a lot of weight. On seeing this the first question that came to my mind was: What next?
