O Emmanuel

O Emmanuel, you are our king and judge,
the One whom the peoples await and their Saviour.
O come and save us, Lord, our God.

For those who look to the coming of Christ with desire and full of love, the last day of the Christmas Novena gives them what is at heart of the Mystery of Incarnation. Emmanuel – God is with us. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made – that is what we behold in the manger, indeed the only fulfilment of all our desires – who leads as King and Judge and saves.
We are in need of salvation like the need of dry ground for water. Christ the water of life and its giver is waiting for us to fill from the well of salvation. Our prayer is for him, our Lord and God, to come to us without delay and to lead us to himself.
