The Assumption at Sevenoaks

Not anymore from Malta today about the Assumption but from Sevenoaks. I have celebrated the Assumption today at the Anglican Cathedral here in Malta, the time being the same as that of the Mass in Sevenoaks. Pictures have been taken by Fr Mark and Frances. Fr Mark writes:

The sun started to shine as I walked down the hill for early Mass. Every thing was got ready on the Saturday so Roy and I only had to light the altar candles and the votive lights before the Mass begun. When we came out from the sacristy we found a large turnout waiting in the chapel. We celebrated the Feast of the Assumption and reflected on our call to seek heavenly glory as we travel our Christian pilgrimage. After the service there was a brief chance to speak to some of the congregation, which included visitors from Australia and London.

Roy and Francis joined me for lauds and then it was time to make the final preparations for the Sung Mass and Baptism. A large party had gathered to support Caitlin and her parents Sarah and Graham as they presented Caitlin for the sacrament of baptism. Caitlin fell asleep as the service begun and did not wake until the congregation welcomed her with a round of applause, even the waters of the font did not wake her! After Mass we gathered in the hall for coffee where we were joined by a couple of new faces. For those interested in figures there were 18 communicants at 8am and 129 people present at 10am including the children and young people.

Our congratulations to a couple married at St John's last year who are now expecting their first child.
