Michael & Amy are now husband and wife – many blessings and many happy years. The church was full of people who supported them in the liturgy of the Sacrament of Marriage. How wonderful to celebrate this sacrament in the context of the Mass. Jesus gives himself to the Church in communion as the Church receives him with total and unconditional love. This will be seen every day in the life of Michael and Amy. With Christ they will grow old in joy and love. The first walk of Michael and Amy as husband and wife was to the altar of Our Lady of Walsingham where they offered to her homage as the congregation sung the Walsingham hymn.
Fr Mark and Canon Michael Shields joined in the concelebration. Fr Shields, who baptised Amy, gave us a wonderful sermon using the thoughts of St Therese the Little Flower on love.
