Lauds and Mass opened this day dedicated to the Little Flower. Her relic was placed on the altar for the veneration of the faithful.
Following Mass I had a meeting with our new Parish Administrator, Mrs Mary-Clare Davies, in which we set the scene for the coming weeks. One of our churchwardens, Richard, called today to update me about our project to have a glass second door for the church. This will enable people to stop in the porch and can see the church and hopefully say their prayers or sit to reflect. We are at the early stage of gathering information for this important project for the life and witness to our wider community.
After lunch all was prepared for the funeral of John in church followed by Cremation at Tunbridge Wells. John was a staunch member of the Friends of Sevenoaks Hospital. Matron came for the Funeral and it was good to have all these links with the hospital brought together. Our prayers continue for the repose of his soul and for his wonderful family at this difficult time.
Back home, Carol was working on the October edition of the Parish Magazine which will distributed on Sunday. This will also be uploaded on our website for those afar. Back to Church for Vespers and Salve.
The office was accompanied by the joyful voices of beavers waiting for their church visit. They were an absolute pleasure to take round and we shared some of the wonderful prayers they wrote. Please pray for our links with the St John’s scout movement – they are indeed a blessing.
