The celebration of Epiphany brought to a wonderful conclusion the Twelve days of Christmas (Ten really). Early Mass was followed by Lauds and preparation for the celebration of the Sung Mass.
During the entry procession we stopped to bless the Epiphany House, after the Gospel the Proclamation of Easter was sung (very ably) by Fr Peters. Following the homily Michael was admitted as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and after the notices came the blessing of the chalk.
Today we gave thanks for the splendid evening we had last night, for the many people that we had between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and for David, one of our Churchwardens, who today celebrates a significant birthday – Ad Multos Annos! I also had time to say farewell to a member of the congregation who will be travelling for the next few months.

Did they do the blessing of chalk at Margaret St when you were there? This is the first year I'm going to be able to be there for Epiphany (celebrated on the old date).
The maniple should not be worn for the blessing of chalk. It is removed for all such rites: the Asperges, the blessing and distribution of ashes etc
