Lent III

Lent III was a normal Sunday with a normal attendance. The Lenten homily was delivered by Fr Mark who led us to reflect, among others, on Revelation, Obedience, and Faith. Following communion two young catechumens were presented to the congregation, a reflection of the liturgical scrutinies as they will recieve Baptism on the Most Holy Vigil of Easter. After Mass the Holy Week programme was distributed and a PCC was held to prepare for the APCM in two weeks time. The afternoon was taken up by Home Communion, lunch, hospital visit and the five o' clock Church.
Special liturgies at the Holy Land today, apart from the diaconal ordination of Nerwan Nasser Al-Banna OFM whose sister is also a member of the Order of St Francis, there are solemn liturgies proper for Lent III.
This time the Patriarch himself is solemnly received by Fr Fergus OFM the President of the Most Holy Sepulchre and this in the presence of the Custos, Fr Pierbattista OFM.
After being greeted at the stone of the Unction, the Patriarch is taken to the Chapel of St Helena - the finding of the Cross, the Armenian Chapel, Calvary and finally the Holy Sepulchre. This is followed by High Mass in the chapel of St Mary Magdala next to the Holy Sepulchre.
Nothing liturgically as exciting as what goes on in the Holy Land and yet here too the preparation for Easter is in full flow.
Enjoy the pics.
