St Dominic's Sunday

Prayers for the Parish Church and all its members were offered today at St Dominic's Basilica as the Patronal Festival was kept.
The morning was taken by the Pontifical High Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Malta in the presence of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Head of the Opposition and several senior office holders of the Government of Malta. The special homily, called Panygirc, was given by Prof. Joseph Ellul OP and lasted five minutes short of an hour.
In the evening the relic and statue of St Dominic were processed through the main streets of the city. The procession left church at 7.15pm and re-entered at 10.45pm when Solemn Benediction brought the great day to an end.
