The Chrism Mass

It is a great delight and a consolation of the Faith Catholic offered to a priest to be part of a college of priests surrounding their bishop.
This is the joy I had the pleasure to partake in this morning as I concelebrated with a good number of priests together with our bishop for the annual Chrism Mass.
It is a great blessing to renew the priestly vows: to celebrate the divine mysteries devoutly, to teach the Faith faithfully in and out of season and to fashion one’s life according to the consecration received on the day of ordination to the Sacred Priesthood.
During this Mass the Oils of Catechumens and the Sick were blessed and the Chrism consecrated. These holy oils will be used in the administration of the sacraments till next Holy Week, a sign of our work of service in building the kingdom.
Chrism Mass is a high point of Holy Week, a deepening of the relationship every priest has with Christ the only and true High Priest of the New Covenant established by his own blood.
