Sacred Synod

It is great to be able to contribute to this blog - now I really feel part of the St John's fabric!

My first duty to is to advertise the Sacred Synod that has been called by a number of our bishops. This event, to be held on the feast of Our Lady of Walsingham (24th September) from 11.00 a.m. til 3.00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Centre, London, is proposed by the bishops to be an opportunity for 'those concerned with catholic order to meet to take council together about ways forward for the future'. We live in exciting times! More details can be found at both Bishop Edwin's blog here and Fr Giles Pinnock's blog here.

Talking of Bishop Edwin, we welcome him to the parish this weekend as we continue to honour our patron, St John the Baptist. On Sunday afternoon at 4.30 p.m. Bishop Edwin will celebrate a Pontifical Solemn Mass with the blessing of the new Town Mayor - all welcome!

First, though, we celebrate the founder of Opus Dei, St Josemaria Escriva, whose relics will be on the altar at the 9.30 a.m. Mass tomorrow.
